City Motor supply primarily sells remanufactured engines and engine parts (cams, cylinder heads, pistons, blocks, etc). Engines can come in a short block (block sans parts) or as a long block (block with pistons, cylinder heads, etc…)

These engines are popular for racing and marine applications and City Motor carries motors from approximately the 60s to the late 90s.

My last transaction at City Motor was a late 70s model 350 (5.7) engine to go into my project boat. The long block out the door with an intake was just under $1,000. That included the oil pan and gaskets. All I needed to add was the accessories and my carburator.

There isn’t a place in Dallas quite like City Motor Supply. There are some similar but where City Motor Supply shines is in their machining. Need your cylinder head resurfaced? It’s $25. Have a broken intake or exhaust stud? $35.

They’ll do all kinds of stuff. Pressure testing, welding, valve jobs, angle grinds, pretty much anything you can think of, they can do it.

If you need a new motor, they have the common ones listed on their website and if it’s not listed, just call them up and they’ll get you a price. If they don’t have one that’s rebuilt, you can bring in yours and they’ll rebuild it for you.

I’ve just completed my first experience with City Motor Supply (CMS) and thought I’d take a few minutes let others know about it.

After researching several good options available in the DFW area, talking to four different builders, visiting with several references for a couple of those builders, I determined that CMS was my best option.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 HD 4×4 with a LQ4 gas engine that they rebuilt for me last week and installed it. John Deere did an outstanding job for me. I drove it out of town to work in Northern Oklahoma and it is getting better fuel mileage and runs a ton better! Very satisfied with everything up to this point! Great job!

I was 20 years old when I went to work for a shop in Wichita Falls as a mechanics helper. I’d been repairing my own cars since I had gotten my d.l. but did not have any real experience otherwise. The name of the shop was J.R.’s Auto Repair on Armory Rd. near Jacksboro Hwy. It’s no longer there. In the year that I worked there, I must have helped install at least 5 – 6 engines. Every time we would drive from W.F. to Dallas to buy a re-manufactured engine from City Motor Supply.

A year later I moved to Dallas in 1992. Still doing business with City Motor Supply to this day. You can’t go wrong if you do. I’m dropping off 2 cylinder heads this morning for machine work.
